A Prof and a Pint: The Future of Organic Farming

Please join us for the first meeting of A Prof and A Pint, a new monthly series of informal discussions, served over dinner and drinks, at Forager Tasting Room and Eatery. Brought to you by UC Santa Cruz Alumni, and helping to kick off 2018 as the Year of Alumni, each talk will engage a UCSC faculty member or grad student in discussion with you, the local community of Silicon Valley. Future talks will be held on the 2nd Monday of each month.  Topics will include everything from organic Artichokes to endangered Zebras. Self-driving cars to Shakespeare.  Audience participation is encouraged. Enjoy a great meal and learn something while you're eating!

UCSC’s Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems (CASFS), known on campus as “The Farm,” has for a half century spearheaded science and production techniques of organic farming. UCSC alumni and apprentices have influenced organic farming approaches in thousands of farm operations. Christof Bernau, Farm Garden Manager and Apprentice Instructor, will describe past contributions, current activities, and promising directions in organic farming.
