West Side Winery Excursion w/ Lunch at The Farm

Santa Cruz’s west side has become a hub for boutique wineries and, as you can imagine, there’s a lot of Slug energy at work. Come with us as we meet three generations of UCSC vintners across three different wineries. We’ll hold tastings at Rexford Winery and Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard before settling back at the UCSC Farm for a casual lunch and a final tasting by Madson Wines.

Excursion pricing includes tastings from three urban wineries, a meet and greet with the owners and vintners from each winery, lunch, transportation, and all taxes and gratuities. Please note that while this excursion visits active wineries, we won’t be visiting vineyards.

Rexford Vineyard

Rexford Winery

Established in 2008, Rexford Winery handcrafts wines in small lots with grapes from select local growers. Dedicated to single-vineyard wines of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Merlot, and other premium varieties, Rexford’s wines accurately reflect the varietal characteristics of each grape and the unique microclimates and soils of the vineyards from which they come.

Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard

Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard believes wine should dance with food to make the experience more than the sum of the ingredients. For vintner Jeff Emery, this means making wines with moderate alcohol and oak so that the true characteristics of the grape varieties are expressed.

Madson Bottles

Madson Wines

Madson Wines, a collaboration between viticulturist Ken Swegles and winemaker Cole Thomas, is committed to expressing the terroir of small vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains. With Swegles’ devotion to organic and biodynamic viticulture and Thomas’ light-handed vinification, the two have created a voice in their wines that is unobscured, elegant, and precise.
