Programs: Outstanding Staff Award
Established by the Alumni Association in 1995, the Outstanding Staff Award is presented annually to a staff member to recognize sustained, distinguished service by staff to student life, the growth and improvement of UCSC's programs, and the preservation of UCSCs unique intellectual and physical environment. Recipients are honored at a ceremony during Reunion Weekend and receive a $500 cash award. This year's award will be presented to Rosie Cabrera on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. in the Humanities Lecture Hall.

Director, El Centro Chicano Latino Student Resource Center
Rosie Cabrera is the director of El Centro, UCSC's Chicano/Latino student resource center. She has worked at UCSC for 24 years in a variety of positions, including as a counselor at the Educational Opportunity Program. Cabrera has inspired many generations of students. "I can think of no one on campus more committed to helping our students reach their full potential as young scholars, leaders, and human beings," said her supervisor, Executive Director of Student and Academic Support Services Larry Trajillo, in his nomination.
