Get involved
UCSC offers many opportunities for alumni to stay connected to the campus. Volunteering is a great way to give back and make a lasting impact.
Mentor a student
You can assist students and other alumni in career orientation by volunteering to provide career counseling and professional advice by telephone or as part of career fairs and conferences.
Click here for more information, or contact cannetwork@ucsc.edu or (831) 459-2368 about becoming part of the Career Advice Network.
Network with Banana Slugs in your area
In locations around the country, UCSC alumni and friends periodically get together to enjoy each other's company; network; listen to faculty speakers; go to theater performances, wine tastings, parties, and educational outings; and participate in a host of other activities. You can volunteer to help plan events in your area, or just join the fun!
For more information click here or contact the Allison Garcia at (831) 459-1909 or acgarcia@ucsc.edu.
Participate in Admissions outreach
Alumni volunteers attend high school and community college events as representatives of UCSC to share their experience as former students with prospective students. In the spring the Alumni Association assists the Admissions Office in "yield events," where newly admitted students can talk with alumni before deciding whether or not to enroll at UC Santa Cruz.
Click here to sign up, or for more information contact the Office of Admissions at (831) 459-4008 or admissions@ucsc.edu.
Become a Reunion Challenge Leader
Reunion Challenge Leaders are alumni who are committed to engaging with fellow classmates in honor of their reunion year. This program provides an opportunity to engage volunteer leadership, cultivate donors, access new support, raise funds to support UC Santa Cruz, and encourage alumni to attend reunion celebrations. The volunteer leaders are a liaison between the colleges, academic departments, extracurricular activities, and alumni who identify with a particular class year.
For more information about becoming a Reunion Challenge Leader, click here or contact Shayna Kent at (831) 459-3966 or skent1@ucsc.edu.
Get involved in legislative advocacy
This is a unique opportunity to get involved in direct advocacy for UCSC. Each spring, a delegation of UCSC alumni from around the state joins delegations from the other UC campuses to speak to their California legislators. You can also sign up for our online advocacy program and find out more about UCSC's government and community relations.
For more information contact Melissa Whatley at (831) 459-3470 or mwhatley@ucsc.edu.
Attend the Multicultural Career Conference
Participate as an alum at the Multicultural Career Conference, which brings together people of diverse backgrounds to discuss careers, internships, and grad schools. This event provides an opportunity for alumni to come back to UCSC for a day to mentor students, reconnect with the campus, and network with fellow Banana Slugs.

Serve on the Alumni Council
Serving on the Alumni Council is one of the ways you can advance the interests and promote the welfare of the university. The governing body of the Alumni Association is the Alumni Association Council. The council is composed of 30 members. Twenty-four are graduates of UCSC and are elected.
