B.A. Anthropology, Rachel Carson College (formerly College Eight) '84Donna is the current President of the Alumni Council. After graduating from Rachel Carson College with a degree in Anthropology, she completed her Master’s in Educational Policy, also at UC Santa Cruz. Donna's work has included the development and oversight of community college transfer programs at both UC Santa Cruz and Cabrillo College. She is also co-author of, "Blossoms Into Gold: The Croatians in the Pajaro Valley”, which was released in 2009. Donna's distinguished career in public service spans more than 30 years and encompasses a number of community service programs, including the annual Morton Marcus Memorial Poetry Reading and Behind Packing House Doors: Voices of Watsonville's Croatian Community, a day-long immersion course.
B.A. Environmental Planning, Cowell ’74Charlie is past president of the Alumni Council. An alumnus of Cowell College, he received his degree in Environmental Planning in 1974 before going on to become the Director of Campus and Community Planning at UC Santa Cruz and the President of the Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce. Since his term as Alumni Council President, he founded his own consulting firm, Eadie Consultants Planning Services, where he is the principal consultant.
B.A. Anthropology, Kresge '98Adolfo earned his B.A. in Anthropology from Kresge College in 1998 and his Master of Arts from Saint Mary’s College of California in 2003. Besides serving as the Vice President of Finance and Treasurer for the Council, and as an Alumni Councilor for Kresge College, Adolfo has devoted his career to improving educational opportunities in Sacramento. He has served as a Board Member for the Sacramento City School District Bond Oversight Committee, the Director of Breakthrough Sacramento and as Executive Director for Sacramento Country Day School. Adolfo is also a Governing Board Member for the Language Academy of Sacramento.
B.A. Business Management Economics, Kresge ’02Paul received his B.A. in Business Management Economics from Kresge College in 2002 and his MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. In 2004, Paul became the CEO of SageTel International, a global consulting firm for wireless communication companies. In addition to his role as the Vice President of Administration and Secretary for the UC Santa Cruz Alumni Council, Paul has also served on boards of other foundations, including the Board of Trustees for the Marin Academy and as the Board President of the Foundation for the Compton Community College.
B.A. English and American Literature, Cowell ’92
Eanad graduated from Cowell College with a degree in English and American Literature in 1992. She is also currently the Alumni Councilor for Cowell. Eanad has extensive experience with nonprofit work and is currently the Director of Operations and Client Services for a domestic violence relief agency. Eanad also serves as an Appointed Board Member, Board Secretary, and Member of the Executive Committee for Paratransit Inc., which provides transportation services to people with disabilities in the Sacramento area.
B.A. Politics and Economics, Rachel Carson College (formerly College Eight) '96Brian double-majored in Politics and Economics at Rachel Carson College and earned his MBA from USC's Marshall School of Business. Currently, Brian is the Director of Innovation and Development at Farmer’s Insurance. As well as serving on the UC Santa Cruz Alumni Council, he has worked with the UCLA Alumni Association as the Senior Marketing Manager and Director of Regional Programs. Brian also serves on the board of a public policy nonprofit in southern California and has chaired the UC Santa Cruz Multicultural Festival.
B.A. Art and Religious Studies, Merrill ’72
An alumna of Merrill College, Lee earned a double degree in Religious Studies and Art in 1972. Lee is the owner of Commercial Investment Services, a real estate analysis and acquisition firm. She is also passionate about art and has volunteered for the Santa Cruz Arts Council and Downtown Community Volunteer Center. As part of her service on the Alumni Council, Lee works to provide guidance and support to the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund which manages two separate scholarship funds.
B.A. Film & Digital Media, B.A History & Theory of Architecture, Porter '06Matthew graduated from Porter College in 2006, earning degrees in both Film and Digital Media and the History and Theory of Architecture. He went on to attend the Harvard Graduate School of Design and currently lives in the Boston area. In addition to serving as an Alumni Council Board Member, Matthew is a collaborator at an east coast architecture and planning firm.
B.A. Sociology, Merrill '75Roberto majored in Sociology at Merrill College and earned his Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from San Jose State University. As a former member of the Salinas City Council and guidance counselor for the Salinas Union High School District for over 30 years, he is a very active member of the Salinas community. Roberto is also a member of the Christians in Commerce organization and volunteers for the Monterey County Diocese.
B.S. Computer Engineering, Oakes '91Michael earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Oakes College before going on to attend the Rackham Graduate School at the University of Michigan for his PhD in Electrical Engineering. Since then, he has worked as the Principal Engineer at Achronix Semiconductor and as a Software Architect and Consulting Engineer at Magma Design Automation Inc. He is also a member and Chair Emeritus of UC Santa Cruz’s Baskin Alumni Advisory Council for the Jack Baskin School of Engineering.
B.A. History, Rachel Carson College (formerly College Eight) '09Meredith graduated from Rachel Carson College in 2009 with a degree in History. After earning a Master’s in Public Policy from USC, she worked as the Assistant Executive Director, Chief Governing Officer, and Interim Executive Director for the California State Student Association. Currently, Meredith is the Associate Director for Legislative Advocacy and Institutional Relations for the University of California, Office of the President and is a new board member of the UC Santa Cruz Alumni Council.
B.A. Independent Studies (German), Crown '94An alumna of Crown College, Ayanna earned her B.A. in Independent Studies (German) in 1994 before going on to get an M.A. in African Studies and her Ph.D. in Urban Planning at UCLA. Since then, Ayanna has spearheaded many projects related to educational policy and advocacy. She is also a Fulbright Scholar and Fellow who lectured and conducted research in Germany, Kenya and Eritrea. In addition to being a member of the Alumni Council, Ayanna is currently a lecturer at California State University Sacramento where she teaches Ethnic Studies and is part of the First Year Experience Learning Community.
B.A. Business Management Economics, College Ten '11Michael graduated from College Ten in 2011 with a degree in Business Management Economics. During his time as a student at UC Santa Cruz, he was the Chancellor’s Undergraduate Intern for the Good Neighbor Initiative, which connects students to off campus housing resources in the Santa Cruz community. Since graduation, he has been a member of the Alumni Council, and is currently an account executive and underwriter for Travelers, a Bay Area insurance firm.
